Tambourin @ Kempinski in Nairobi offers a diverse culinary experience combining Lebanese, Middle Eastern, and South Asian influences. Reviewers frequently praise the quality and variety of dishes, especially the mezze platters, grilled meats, and desserts like baklava. The restaurant is noted for its attentive and accommodating staff, contributing to a comfortable dining ambiance. While the fusion menu appeals to many, some guests find the blend of regional cuisines somewhat inconsistent with traditional Lebanese cuisine. The venue is also favored for events, with particular commendation for the chef's execution. Overall, Tambourin is recognized as a vibrant spot for enjoying a flavorful mix of Middle Eastern and Indian fare in a well-serviced environment.

I'd highly recommend the Baklava dessert if you're a sweet tooth. It was delicious and really crowned a wonderful Lebanese dinner. The staff really went out of their way to ensure we were well served and kept comfortable.

We had an event at Tambourine; our guests from the Middle East loved the food. The Chef Mohamed and his team truly did an amazing job.

I wouldn't call this place "Lebanese" nor "Middle Eastern" per se, although they certainly serve some classic Middle Eastern dishes and the decor is designed to reflect the Middle East. There's a fair bit of Indian/Pakistani on the menus (curries, biriyani) and the Persian "kebabs" were not kebabs (nor that similar to other Persian kebabs I've had). I ordered the Persian chicken kebab and basically got whole bbq'd chicken pieces, all dark meat. It was good, but different than expected . Service was kind but not as detail-oriented as I'd have expected at the Kempinski - I asked them to hold the tomato and salad on my main, which they did, but they also held the (hot) spinach and when I kindly mentioned this, the server (who was not the person who took my order) just shrugged. The portions were huge, as so many portions are in Kenya, so you'll get many meals out of one; however, it is very expensive compared to other places (including other top Nairobi hotels). Lastly, I thought this was more of an open roof deck, but the space is very closed in so you're not going to get views of the city while dining. I think the Kempinski would do really well to rethink this restaurant into more of a Near Asia / East Asia fusion food space (esp since they closed the Chinese restaurant) and open it up more to see the city as well.

Good spot for Indian and middle eastern fare! Recommend the mezze platters, the biryanis and the cheese rikakat. Good service, although they forgot our second round of drinks (thankfully we didn’t get charged). All in all, a good spot for a nice meal!

A top class Lebanese restaurant at Kempiniski Nairobi. I like the vibe and the decor of the restaurant. We had humus for a starter and it was delightful, the pita bread was baked so well. We had the Meza platter for our main course and it was enough for two. Loved the Samosas, the grilled chicken, the garlic sauce, the salad and more. The price was not bad for the quality of the food. The Baklava was the best desert we had in a while. It was super. Highly recommend it for those with a sweet tooth. One downside though was the service. We found it wanting. Our server was bored and looked like he was not happy seeing us there. Never bothered to confort us, guide us through the menu, ask us if we liked our food and other basic tasks even those at smaller places would normally give you. Other than that, it was a beautiful Middle Eastern experience in the middle of Nairobi westlands.

Lebanese themed restaurant at Villa Rosa Kempinski. Meals are only on buffet. I enjoyed the food by Chef Abdallah, especially the Biryani . He was very warm and took time to explain how the meals were. They have two seating options Arabic style on low floor pillows and conventional seats. The waiting staff was cold & and unwelcoming. He seemed bothered and didn't want us seating where we preferred but rather where he liked. Drinks service was also very slow. The ambience is okay. The seating spaces are close & back to back, we could practically hear conversations on the adjacent cubicle/table so privacy & confidential conversations there is nearly impossible. Desert was great.
